I've neglected this spot for too long. It's time to move on.

I've had this pattern for years....a couple of months ago I noticed that the largest size was a 6....Time to make it. Here it is on Bug before it was felted. Crazy.
Here is the same jacket after felting. I was a bit scared, but pretty confident that all would be well...I did, after all, knit a swatch and felt it before I started. I still need to get clasps for it, then it will be done. Yay.
My daughter was invited to a pirate birthday party, so I made this for the birthday boy.
After our recent move, I discovered this sweater, nearly done. I finished it off and she wore it to the above mentioned pirate party.
While in Chicago with some knitting friends, I received this yarn in a gift exchange. The person I got it from had made these fingerless gloves with a mitten top and I loved them, so I made some for myself. I need to add a bit of length to the thumbs, yet. Bummer.
Here are my new socks. I started them last April on a train trip to WA. Never quite finished them. I came across them last week and finally took the time to finish them. They look so incredibly strange until they're on my foot. It's ok to laugh at them...really.
My daughter has always loved yarn, but when I would ask if she wanted to learn how to knit she would say "When I'm bigger." Last weekend she saw a little girl who was knitting. When she found out that she was the same age (5), she realized that maybe she could learn how. She was thrilled to find out that she would learn a poem to help her remember the moves.
Our friends, Bruce & Julie (aka Patchouli) just posted some live videos.

This one was fun. I'd made a hat with this pattern for myself about 3 months after I started knitting. I'm still shocked that it turned out well. I guess I didn't know that it "should" be difficult. Anyways...a neighbor saw it and wanted one. I've been dragging my feet to get it done. I can't read or watch movies while doing this type of pattern. (have to follow a graph) I picked up a set of Prairie Home Companion CDs at the library yesterday and around 9:30 I settled in to knit. (should have started earlier) I was done by about 1:45. (I had an inch or so of the hat knit before then) I still need to block it, as the bottom is curling up a bit. I'm pretty happy with it.
When I spotted this pattern on the knitty.com site I showed it to my daughter. She loves the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Since I'd just made her the Jack Skellington doll (see previous post) I thought she'd be amused. She said "Now I can be Jack for Halloween!"
Hey positive peer pressure! She is so stinkin' adorable. I'm glad she is enjoying learning. She looks like she is... read more
